Privacy
Kinnect exists so that a family can see where each other are without giving that to anybody else. This page says exactly what is collected, who can see it, how long it is kept, and how to remove it.
What is collected
- Location. Your position, and speed and battery alongside it, while sharing is on. This is the app's purpose.
- Your account. An email address or phone number to sign in with, a display name, and a photo if you set one.
- Messages. What you send to the people you are connected to, including photos and video.
- Devices. Which phones and watches are signed in, so you can revoke one you no longer have.
Who can see it
Only people you have approved, and only as much as you have allowed them. Approval is mutual and either side can end it at any time, which removes both directions at once.
Whoever runs the server can technically read what is stored on it — that is true of every server, and saying otherwise would be a lie. Kinnect is meant to be run by somebody in your own family, so that person is not a stranger.
Who it is not shared with
Nobody. There is no advertising, no analytics, no tracking library, and no sale or sharing of anything to any third party. The map is drawn from data stored on the same server, so looking at the map does not tell a mapping company where you are. Video calls go directly between the two phones.
How long it is kept
- Locations: 10 days, then deleted automatically.
- Messages and photos: until you or the other person deletes them, or either of you deletes an account.
- Account details: until you delete the account.
Deleting everything
In the app: Settings → Deleting your account. It removes your messages and photos, your location history, your places, your circles and every connection — the files come off the server's disk, not just out of the database. It cannot be undone, and it takes your side of every conversation with it.

Children
Kinnect is built for families, and a child's location may be shared with a parent. That sharing is set up on the child's device with their knowledge: while it is on, an undismissable notice sits in their notifications. Kinnect is not built for, and must not be used for, monitoring an adult without their agreement.
Permissions, and why
- Location, including in the background — so your family can see where you are when the app is not open. This is the app's core function.
- Camera and microphone — only during a video call, and only after you accept the prompt.
- Notifications — the permanent sharing notice, messages, and incoming calls.
- Photos and video — only what you choose to send.
